We are pleased to be able to offer work experience placements within our Design Team, based at Sandwell Council House in Oldbury.

Work experience role (school placement): Design Assistant

During your work experience placement as a Design Assistant, you would assist with design work carried out by Urban Design and Building Services (UDBS).

Main duties

Reporting to a mentor here at UDBS, you would have duties that could include:

* Carrying out design work using AutoCAD and SketchUp
* Going on site visits to construction projects at various stages of completion
* Site surveying / supervision
* Sourcing manufacturers’ information for construction products.

About you

To be ideal for this placement, you should be:

* Able to follow instructions and work unassisted
* Computer literate
* Interested in design / graphics and technology
* Willing to ask for help when needed
* Familiar with what a design / construction practice does, and have an understanding of the roles within it
* Willing to be an ambassador for UDBS.
