Celebrating generosity at Christmas (and all year round)

At Urban Design and Building Services (UDBS), we strive to work with organisations that give back to Sandwell, its people, the environment and our communities. Social value is a priority for Sandwell Council. It means our investments have benefits that reach beyond the contracts we award and the work we carry out.

One generous partner organisation is Cradley Heath-based Lift & Engineering Services (LES) – our contractor for lift services.

Food bank certificate of thanks.

The team there has received this Christmas certificate of appreciation and thanks from the Black Country Foodbank, for donating goods to distribute to local families in need.

LES recently donated 19.1kg of food and 5.8kg of non-food (such as toiletries) that will be used to make emergency food parcels for people in crisis. According to the Black Country Foodbank, that’s enough to create 38 meals and six toiletry packs.

Meanwhile, Dodd Group’s team in Sandwell has raised an amazing £600 so far for the food pantry at Murray Hall Community Trust in Tipton. As we reported in October, food banks are Dodd Group’s chosen charity to support this year, with staff taking on fundraising challenges nationwide that include cake sales, head shaves and even a sponsored wax.

A huge well done to LES and Dodd Group – and thank you to all our suppliers who go above and beyond in their businesses, not just at Christmas but all year round.

In 2023, we’ve also celebrated:

* Kind-hearted contractors renovating the garden at Tipton Children’s Centre

* Dodd Group helping Grove Vale Primary School in Great Barr to reopen its swimming pool

* Dodd Group going the extra mile for two further Sandwell primary schools and Cradley Heath Library.

We look forward to sharing more news of social value with you in 2024!
