Ashcroft, Birchcroft and, Elmcroft Houses, three high rise tower blocks off Windmill Lane, Smethwick, recently refurbished to designs by Urban Design and Building Services, were declared a winner for Delivering Social Value at the National Federation of Builders Awards.
The award, jointly received by Urban Design, Neighbourhood Services and the main Contractor, Keepmoat Regeneration, recognises outstanding contributions to the built environment and the high quality work and commitment carried out by NFB members across the regions.
Judges rewarded companies who had set out and delivered extraordinary projects based on a clear set of objectives including creativity, effectiveness, achievement and the implementation of best practices.
Along with the win at the NFB awards, Urban Design and Building Services were also shortlisted for The Crofts in the Housing Project of the Year category of the Builder and Engineer Awards 2016 and the Most Innovative Housing Regeneration Scheme category at the Housing Innovation Awards 2016.
The completion of the project concluded the refurbishment works to a total of 33 high rise blocks carried out by Urban Design and Building Services since the commencement of the Decent Homes initiative in 2005.
The awards ceremony is due to take place on Wednesday 8th February 2017.
